Elk Grove Everton 96 ladies are Everton Cup Champions

On the weekend of July 10 and 11th, Elk Grove Everton hosted the girl’s side of The Elk Grove Everton Cup Tournament. The EG Everton 96 ladies began their tournament run against the Inter Rage Thunder. EG Everton ladies dominated the game but were unable to put the ball in the back of the net, 1st game EG Everton ladies 0 Thunder 3. We knew we were the better team but we had to prove it out on the field. The next game was against our counterpart on the select side of the club, the Cyclones. EG Everton ladies were up 3 to 1 at half time but the Cyclones tied it in the 2nd half. With seconds left until the end of the game, Andrea Martinez was able to get behind the last defender and beat the goalie 1v1, final score EG Everton ’96 ladies 4 EG Cyclones 3. We knew that if we beat San Juan White for our 3rd game we would be able to play for the championship, we accomplished this. Final score for that game was EG Everton ladies 1 San Juan White 0. Next up the championship game with a rematch with the Thunder to prove who was the better team. EG Everton ladies were up at half time 1-0. With the Thunder trying to survive the relentless attacks in the 2nd half, the Thunder finally caved and had a hand ball in the goal box. Bianca Villasenor took the penalty kick from the mark and placed it just out of reach of the keeper. Final score Elk Grove Everton ’96 ladies 2 Inter Rage Thunder 0.
