Elk Grove Everton AGM

On June 7, 2010, Elk Grove Everton held its annual AGM. This meeting took a look at the successes of the past and a preview to the upcoming year.

Elk Grove Everton, three (3) years ago, establish short and long term goals.

Short Term Goals

  • Everton Way Implementation/Coaches Continue Education
  • Identify Coaching Staff into Age Groupings
  • Development of Complete Program
  • Attract more quality players
  • Continue to build and develop community relationships
  • Develop a Marketing Program
  • Develop younger players to enhance older teams

Long term goals

  • Solid competitive teams in all age groups
  • To develop players to move to the next level:
    ODP/Regional Team/National Team/ PDP/id2/College
  • To acquire a club atmosphere not just a team atmosphere
  • Obtain dedicated training facilities/fields.
  • Have the depth in our club to support a full staffing structure.

Many of the short and long term goals are well on their way to being reality for our club and not just goals. The Everton Way has been implemented and the majority of the coaching staff has obtained their Everton Way Level 1 certification. Continuing education, through the Everton Way, will continue throughout 2010 season. With the Everton Way program, an Everton Academy Coach from England travels to Elk Grove to run an exclusive training camp each summer for the Elk Grove Everton players. The camp in 2009 had high attendance averaging 120 players each day.

The club has been working hard on the development a complete program. In 2009, the club added an additional piece to our program, the College prep program. The College prep program was designed to assist our players in getting into college. The first annual events for the program consisted of 2 seminars during the season. The last seminar consisted of inviting college coaches from all divisions to participate in a Q & A session for our players and parents. The following day, these coaches along with others were invited to watch our U16G, U17B and U18 B scrimmage against other teams in our area. The college coaches that attended stated that this was one of the best seminars that they have ever been a part of and are looking forward to being part of this again next season. One of our U18 Boys, Dylan Waugh, received a multi sport scholarship in the 2009 season. We have several other players that are looking at their options this next year and we are anxious to assist them through our College prep program. In addition, seven (7) of our players were invited to attend a training camp at the University of Riverside, Highlander ID camp.

The college prep program was added to our already successful Academic All American program. This program honors players who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. In 2009, the club honored 45 players and in the followed this past season by honoring 66 players. The top three (3) essays were recognized and awarded and all applicants that were honored received a t-shirt.

The growth of our youth academy program has been very exciting. This program targets players 5-8 years old who want to experience soccer. In 2008, we introduced our youth program to the Elk Grove Community running sessions in June and July. In 2009, we added a special opportunity for our Youth Academy players to attend a session in our Elk Grove Everton exclusive summer training sessions with the Everton Academy coach from England in addition to our monthly summer sessions. The second year the Youth Academy had an average attendance of 20-25 players. In 2010, we expanded to three (3) scheduled sessions per year. We offered Skill and Futsal January thru March with an average attendance of 12 - 15 players per session. Starting in May, we moved outside and started our summer youth academy sessions, teaching these 5-8 year olds the Everton Way. Our attendance so far averages 28-30 players per session. This program has also started to be used as a mentoring program for our older players to help.

We had many successes as a club as well as for individual players this year.
